Hi Everyone!
I’m back from my trip! I went all the way across North America from the Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean and then up to Nova Scotia in Canada. Here’s a map with a star at the place I visited. Maybe the school has a better map.

I went to a town called Annapolis Royal which is the oldest town in Canada! Wow! Here’s another map of part of Nova Scotia. See if you can find Annapolis Royal.

There was a lot to see. First we walked down the main street, and found a nice man standing outside the second oldest house in Canada! Guess where the oldest house in Canada is? It’s also in Annapolis Royal! Bet you can’t guess where the third oldest house is? Annapolis Royal again. I told you it is a very old town.

There was an outdoor market going on, which happens every Saturday in Annapolis Royal. When we arrived there I met the Town Crier! He doesn’t really cry, he walks around the town and tells people what’s going on. He has a very loud voice! In case they don’t hear he rings a bell to get people’s attention. He has two bells, he lets kids help him out by ringing one bell and he rings the other. The clothes he’s wearing are what town cryers wore long long ago (except the sunglasses).

There were some old cars at the market. The owner let me sit in one but it was too big to see out, so I sat outside on the hood.
Look what I found in the market - some pumpkins. None of them were my relatives.

I also found a stall where they were selling some beautiful pottery, but it was too expensive.
The next place we visited was the old town cemetery, which really wasn’t very spooky but I don’t think I’d like to go there at night! The person who is buried where I am standing lived over two hundred years ago!

The cemetery is next door to an old fort called Fort Anne. It is named after the person who was the Queen back in 1700. It used to belong to France, but the British captured it in 1710, almost three hundred years ago.
It was a very windy day, I almost blew away while taking this picture from the walls around the fort, which are called battlements because they are used in battles. You get a view of the Annapolis River. The soldiers would have fired this cannon at an enemy ship that tried to sail up the river.

This picture is me getting ready to fire the cannon (just kidding).

The next picture is me standing in front of the very scary dungeon! This is the oldest building in the fort and it’s mostly underground because it was used to store gunpowder for the cannons. It was also used as a prison for a while. I wouldn’t like to get locked inside at night.

I took another picture from the battlements. This shows the pretty village of Granville Ferry across the river from the fort, and the hills and forests to the north. It’s a beautiful place to visit.

Finally, here’s me with Kevin’s Aunt Sheila and Uncle David, who I stayed with during my visit. We were all visiting an Art Gallery where some of Aunt Sheila’s paintings are for sale.
