Re: [OpenVerse] Proposal for reorganization of Openverse directory structure

[great ideas]

I'm not familiar with the Windows version (thankfully I don't need it), but
I'm pretty sure that this new directory organization moves even farther
than what Windows requires. The old (ahem... current) style is Windowsish
to me: Everything a single program needs is in one directory.

I suppose this could be easily overcome by never hardcoding any directory
locations in the actual programs; instead use variables like "ovhelpdir"
that are all set from the makefile (well, you know what I mean--they're
compile-time options).

And what's the difference between /usr and /usr/local? I always install my
new stuff to /usr/local, but when I have to use rpm it appears to go into
/usr. And having separate X11 directories seems plain retarded to me.
Why, oh why?
