[OpenVerse] new idea for cramped screens
I just got an idea that maybe there could be a way of increasing the size
of the OpenVerse room space..
In recent times, the room has been MEGA crowded.
The way I've figured it, the server could either offer the room image in
different sizes (this might be limiting since it would limit the user's
choices in size and ratio, and slow things down a bit) or by having the
client scale the image to the specified size.
All avatar movement and such on the screen could be scaled respectively so
that movements are equal on a 1024x768 sized window as they are in
640x480.
I think this could work, if there's floating point math support in tcl (I
dunno much about tcl) and of course there's some issues to discuss.. like
how to resolve finer movements on bigger screens so that they show up on
smaller screens, but I think this could possibly work.
I assume that room images are cached because it seems all the rooms I've
already been to don't have to load when I quit the prg and come back, so
if you change to say 800x800 window, it could cache the scaled room
image, and only have to scale it once.. since at least I'm not in the
habit of changing my window sizes all the time.. I just change it to a
proper size and leave it there.
