Re: [OpenVerse] Size limits

There are several options for checking size limits on an avatar.

I chose to use the reported size in the GIF header matched to a server defined
limit.

Other methods are possible but I'm quite sure that future versions of OV will
have more than just GIF support. When you take this into consideration, header
information on the size of the image is the most useable between different
image formats.

Now on how to use the size information there are alternatives here too.. this
many pixels + that many = total pixels.

this wideee or this high is what we use.

I think that any system that was implemented would upset one person or another
and there is no happy medium for avatar size restrictions.

I chose 240 high by 150 wide for the living room because tall and thin provides
the most space for many avatars in the main room and encourages smaller ones.
It's all up to the server admin's setup. if he wants to allow 640x480 avs, so
be it.. but I feel, for the living room, the size restrictions are reasonable.

With the new format, I'm sure people will have avs which are best used in
certain rooms anyway. just because your car no longer works in the living
room.... perhaps this is a good thing. Try using your used condom avatar
instead.
