ok ok :)

at lilo, hit alt, then secify the boot label with init=/bin/sh
e.g.

boot: linux init=/bin/sh

this will bypass the init program and toss you into a root shell, but the
root filesystem is read only like this, so do

mount -o remount,rw /

then go edit the script you broke, fix the changes, save them, do
sync			(just to be safe)
mount -o remount,ro /
reboot.
