Alright, then. I know I'll be making a login system for chess. I'll
try to separate it out from the rest of the code so that other servers
can pinch it.

No, I can run it right here. Tell me, was there anything that needed
fixing? Explaining? Removing? Embellishing?

No, it can be done without client plugins (for the guys on the list)
or server plugins (for the rooms they frequent). One guy can use a
client plugin that sends out a search spider through all rooms. If
the dude he's looking for is in the same interconnected network of
rooms as the searcher, he'll be found (assuming he's using the expected
nickname).
It would be much faster for a server plugin to maintain a list of where
people are on some central database, but this would be require all
servers to be upgraded.
Then, it would be best overall for users to register their whereabouts
in a central location. That way they can hide if they want. Also if
they change nicks they won't "disappear" even if they want to be found.
Or they can lie. Hehehe.
I say that someday we write a client plugin that registers the user's
location with a central come-find-me! server. It could act as an OV
room so that people can come to it and request to find people. Or they
could use client plugins to query the database to locate folks.

Oh, heh.

Yeah, and with some client plugins and a special server, it can be made
global.
