Jens's gqbist.c in turn is based on an algorithm by Dr. Jörn Loviscach
<jlovisca@informatik.hs-bremen.de> presented in c't magazine, 10/95 page 326.
The article is titled "Ausgewürfelt - Moderne Kunst algorithmisch erzeugen",
which roughly translates to "Modern Art Created With Algorithms."
