mySQL is easy to use and maintain and is fairly powerful. I use it from
time to time, and it has always worked out well. I don't recommend mSQL
though. I spend more time trying to make it work than I do getting
useful products out of it. I use Sybase at work. It's pretty fast and
powerful, but quite a chore to administer. There's a free version of
that for Linux, but I've never tried it.
