I've had a little experience with MySQL, but I don't know the sqlanguage
command set very well..  MySQL is reasonably zippy, but it's not so fast
as some of the more expensive products out there..  it's easy to setup,
and easy to administer using programs like xmysql or xmysqladmin..  my
message board, guestbook, and soon more stuff on my site are working with
it.
