I just got a note from !!Rob!!:  If you have no nick, the program doesn't
tell you & you don't get connected...no error message.

Some other things which have come up recently...

Color codes should be stripped out of nametags.  Also out of baloons, or
even better, the baloons should display the colored text inside the
baloon.

Some sort of option to ignore colors would be nice as well.  Either a
global setting, or a per-user option might be nice if you just want to
ignore the colors that someone has in their nametag making all their text
a strange color.

Lag + flood protection + animation is a bad combination.  We should have
some form of client side animation.

/url * should send to * at the server, which should broadcast to all of
the clients, so it doesn't trip the flood protection when the room is
full.

Potential improvements...

Make /connect handle openverse://server:port/ URL's for easy pasting.

Timmay suggested an alternate nick setting, for when OV crashes or your
connection to the server dies and leaves a ghost.  I can see that being
useful as the number of users grows as well, the likelihood of more than
one person using the same nick increases...
